PUBLIC INVITATION TO MUNICIPALITIES AND CITY ADMINISTRATIONS IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA TO APPLY FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE TRAINING PROGRAM FOR MEMBERS OF COMMISSIONS/COMMITTEES FOR GENDER EQUALITY

Citizens’ Association “Nešto više”, in partnership with Amica Educa and associates Gender Center of The FBiH Government and Gender Center of the RS Government, announces a public call for municipal and city administrations within the project “Development of training programs for members of municipal/city  commissions for gender equality in Bosnia and Herzegovina”.

The aim of the project is to strengthen the role and position of women in political, social and economic processes, and  support of local partnerships in establishing effective mechanism for gender equality in local communities in BiH. Women’s participation in policy design and development is an indicator of the democratization of institutional mechanisms and the promotion of the social postion of women as a key category that has ideas, creativity, diversity and development potential.

The public invitation refers to the application for participation in the training program for members of commissions/committees for gender equality at the local level, with the aim of strenthening their personal knlowledge and skills, and for the purpose of more efficient work of the above commissions/ committees.

Through the implementation of projects in 20 local communities  (10 in FBiH and 10 in RS), members of municipal and city commissions/ committees for gender equality will undergo training (6 thematic trainings/ worksshops) at the beginning of their four-year mandate on topics related to all aspects of gender equality. The implementation of activities will work on strengthening cross-sectoral cooperation, and members of the commissions will be able to take a more proactive approach to solving problems.

Project activites are related to the Law on Gender Equality, by the document named Gender Action Plan of Bosnia and Herzegovina- GAPBIH (2018-2022) and other strategies that define goals for achieving gender equality in all areas of social life and work, in the public and private spheres.

Local governments will have an effective operational institutional mechanism for achieving gender equality at the local level with the possibility of continuous education of future members of gender equality commissions, as well as all other officials and employees of government institutions and agencies in the field of gender equality.

All members of local self-government will acquire knowledge and tools on how to develop strategic documents, in this particular case, how to develop a gender action plan, and will be trained to fully understand gender issues.

In copperation with local civil society organizations, 20 municipalities and cities in BiH, participating in the project, will have the opportuity to manage grants funded by the EU, and with the help and mentorship of the project team will develop their management skills in this field. Priority projects are those whose activites are related to the fight against all forms of violence against girls and women. The focus will be on organizations advocating for the empowerment of women, including other interested organizations, the public and business sectors.
