“Women’s story matters” is the name of the meeting which is being held today (Monday, 25.11.2019) in Banja Luka. It’s about the meeting of the informal network of women with disabilities to present the importance of the gender perspective in the movement of persons with disabilities, and by presenting the draft strategy of development of network and opportunities for involving women with disabilities in the work of the above-mentioned network. Connecting women with disabilities within this informal network, we want to amplify the action of persons with disabilities, both at individual and at organization level in the field of gender equality within the movement of persons with disabilities.
At this meeting is attended by women with disabilities from the Banja Luka region, while such working meetings are planned in the future in other parts of the country. Also, Myles Geiran attended this meeting, the Irish ambassador to Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This working meeting is part of the activities of the project “Community of different, but equal citizens” which is supported by the European Union, and implemented by the Organization of amputees UDAS in partnership with Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Banja Luka and Association of citizens “Nešto Više” Sarajevo.
One of the results of the Project is the actualization of issues of women with disabilities in the framework of the movement of persons with disabilities through strengthening the capacity of the women through training and education, offering services of mutual support, and the establishment and strengthening of the informal network of women with disabilities from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina. The implementation of these activities is supported by the Irish embassy in Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
