We Held a Round Table on the Topic “Viable development: green jobs, permaculture and social enterprise”

On permaculture farm, Nešto Više, in Humilišani near Mostar, was held a round table on the topic “Viable development: green jobs, permaculture and social enterprise”.

Participants were the Association Strength of women and the cooperative Green network from Tuzla, Association of women Vrba from Gnojnica near Mostar, and social company EkoDizajn Mostar and the Association Nešto Više.

Participants shared their previous experiences, showed some of the products they create within the scope of their activities. A special line of organic teas and natural cosmetics made just to postulate green economy and social entrepreneurship, where the focus is on the quality of the products, the people who create it and use it, the regeneration of nature instead of its destruction, and viable development.

Participants were introduced to ways of launching a green business, practical elements of sustainability as systems for renewable energy sources with a design which prevents the waste of energy, recycling of greywater from the house using wetland billets and its re-use, green living roof, collecting, and the use of rainwater, and the importance of biodiversity in food production, regeneration of soil and green tools, creative recycling and use of materials in new point, hotels for insects, chicken tractor.

The conclusion is that green jobs can bring betterment to the local communities and throughout the country, inter alia, by reducing pollution and waste of energy and resources, hiring, equal to and including marginalized groups, and a just allocation of the profit, quality products and services, sustainable development and encouraging regeneration of nature. They agreed on concrete co-operation for the future between the participants.

The round table is one of the activities that Nešto Više implemented through the project “Green business for a healthier environment in BiH”, which is supported by the French embassy in BiH.
