-Public forums in Zenica and Tuzla

Within the project “Get a job by volunteering-volunteer to get a job”, which is implemented by OKC Banja Luka and Nešto Više, two public forums were held on the topic of Promotion of The Law on Volunteering in FBiH. The forum in Zenica was held on November 12, 2010. at the Faculty of Technology. The exhibitor was Mr. Vidan Hadžihasanović, Senior Expert Associate of the Civil Society Sector of the Ministry of Justice of BiH. The tribunes were attended by representatives of local government, public institutions, students and NGOs., as well as local TV and radio stations.

The aim of the forum is to acquaint local community representatives with the current process of drafting and enacting the Law on Volunteering in FBiH, adopted by the Law on Volunteering in RS, and important aspects that the Law should define ( definition of volunteering, guidelines, basic rights and obligations of organizations that hire volunteers, basic rights.) and obligations of volunteers, recognition and evaluation of volunteering and volunteers and penal provisions for violation of the Law).

During the pubic debates, the participants had the opportunity to present their opinion and proposals related to the Law, which will be introduced to the members of the Working Group for drafting the Law, and which will be used in the process of drafting and adopting local volunteer policies.

Youth Communication Center (OKC) Banja Luka and its project partner Citizens’ Association “Nešto Više” (UGNV) Sarajevo seek through the implementation of the project “Get employed by volunteering -volunteer to get a job” to reduce youth unemployment by providing systematic recognition and evaluation of organized student volunteer work within higher education institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
