As part of the #DFF3 – Dialogue for the Future 3 project, three volunteer actions were carried out during July in Mostar, Teslić and Zvornik. These activities were organized and implemented by participants of the “Young Leaders for the Future” program, who develop their leadership, communication, and organizational skills through concrete community engagement.
📍 Teslić: “Activism on the Bench” – Street Info Café
At the city beach Radolinka, on June 11th, a street info-action was held with the goal of raising youth awareness about activism, the work of non-governmental organizations, and opportunities for community involvement. Organized by UG NEŠTO VIŠE, with the support of the Youth Club Teslić (@okteslic) and the engagement of ten young volunteers. Through interactive discussions and a civic engagement quiz, young participants learned about ways to get involved in local initiatives. Special focus was placed on direct contact and breaking stereotypes about work in the civil sector.
“It was the first time I talked to someone who really listened. Now I understand where and how I can help.” – participant, 18 years old
📍 Mostar – “Read as Written” – Literary Evening
In cooperation between the Košnica Association and UG NEŠTO VIŠE, on July 12th at the Small Stage of the Puppet Theatre, a literary evening dedicated to writing and personal expression of young people was held, organized by young leaders. Five young authors presented their own texts, stories, poetry, and reflective pieces — sharing thoughts about pain, love, society, change, and the search for self.
One of the participants, Iva, said: “I felt like I belong here. The conversations were honest, supportive. It was as if the words from the paper built bridges between us.”
The event resulted in the creation of an informal network of young authors, plans for future text exchanges and – perhaps most importantly – the idea of forming a reading and writing club in Mostar. Because everything begins with words.
📍 Zvornik: “Friendship Workshop – A Day for Children with Special Needs”
At the Hotel “Central”, on July 29th, something happened that no camera could truly capture. Through creative activities – drawing, clay modelling, dancing, and socializing – a space was created where empathy and inclusion took center stage. Volunteers created moments that celebrated friendship, understanding, and acceptance. The event was supported by the Zvornik Youth Association (@zoom.zv), and ten young volunteers participated in its implementation. The volunteers prepared a program with a creative workshop, paints, clay, games, dance, balloons, juices, small gifts and – most importantly – warm, genuine attention.
The actions were implemented as part of the “Young Leaders for the Future” project.
The Dialogue for the Future 3 – DFF3 project is implemented by @undpbih, @unicef_bih and @unesco_venice, in cooperation with the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Bosnia and Herzegovina (@unitednations.bih), and in partnership with the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The project is funded by the United Nations Secretary-General’s Peacebuilding Fund (PBF).
