“Start Your Business” or “How to Start Your Business” is the name of the training organized under #LPZa #Banovići for 7 individuals who have shown interest in learning the skills necessary for successfully starting and managing their own businesses. The three-day training was intensive and led by expert Irma Dedić, PhD; assistant professor at the Faculty of Economics, Džemal Bijedić University of Mostar.
In the coming days, participants will develop their business plans in detail, after which a committee will select the 4 most promising ones to be supported with 6,800 BAM each, totaling 27,200 BAM.
We already anticipate it will be difficult to choose, as all ideas are excellent. Soon, Banovići will be enriched with 4 new registered businesses, and our efforts won’t stop there. Early next year, we will repeat the entire process and support another 4 business ideas with the same amount of funding.
NGO “Nešto Više” together with the Municipality of Banovići is implementing the project “Partnership for Employment,” within the “Support to Local Employment Partnerships – Phase II” (LEP II) financed by the European Union with 4 million Euros, implemented through the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Total project value: 351,640 BAM
Contribution from the Municipality: 38,000 BAM
The Municipality of Banovići and NGO “Nešto Više” from Sarajevo, along with other partners who are members of the Local Employment Partnership Banovići (LPZa), are working with ILO support to provide professional training and development for unemployed individuals from the municipality of Banovići, aiming to either employ them in local companies or enable self-employment through starting their own businesses.
Around 100,000 BAM has been allocated for the requalification of approximately 60 unemployed individuals, with expert trainers secured for training an additional 20 people interested in starting their own businesses, and 8 grants totaling approximately 50,000 BAM for those who have completed business startup training.
Currently, modern IT and electrical equipment such as 3D printers and electrical testing tables are being procured for schools, along with digital information panels to improve communication between the Municipality and its citizens.
An LPZ office has been established to provide free support to citizens applying for jobs, starting their own businesses, or applying for support calls. The LPZ office is also available to assist local entrepreneurs. The plan is to employ or self-employ 35 out of the 80 trained individuals by the end of the project in late 2023. Banovići is one of 20 local government units covered under this project funded by the European Union.

The project is supported by the European Union and implemented by the ILO.
