Merima Glušac shared this with us, our beneficiary of the project “Practical work experience for women with finished faculty”. This is her letter to you.
I’m Merima Glušac, MSc in food technology. Through the project “Practical work experience for women with finished faculty” which is supported by the Embassy of the United States of America in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the framework of the “Empowerment of women”, the Association of Citizens “Nešto Više” (UGNV) allowed me to do professional practice in the company of my choice. My first choice was the Sarajevo-based dairy “MilkoS” d.d.
During the study, I had the opportunity to visit the production facilities of the dairy, but I didn’t expect to ever have a chance to be a part of the collective. I was positively surprised by how the employees welcomed me. They were welcoming, patient, communicative, supported me during the execution of tasks. I was in practice for two months, but the collective has accepted as I’ve always worked with them.
I was familiar with the production processes of the manufacturing facilities of the dairy. We produced a variety of physical-chemical and microbiological analysis of raw milk, semi-finished products of milk preparations during progress and in finished products. In addition, we did a sensory analysis of products, too, where I had the chance to try some products I have never tasted.
All praise for the organisers of the practice, and for employers who take young people and give them the opportunity to work. This is a unique opportunity for young people who can’t wait to gain knowledge at the university and apply it in practice. I recommend everyone to apply to similar calls and to gain their first work experience in the profession and the company of their choice.
