-Education from organic production for young agronomists was held

Mostar, May 30, 2015 – The Association of Citizens Nešto Više organized a full-day training on “Control of organic production and certification” for young agronomists and students in the final year of agronomy. The workshop was attended by 30 young agronomists from Novi Grad, Banja Luka, Maglaj, Tomislavgrad, Sarajevo, Bugojno, Jablanica, Prozor-Rama, Capljina, Stolac and Mostar.

The training was led by Ešref Maksumić, B.Sc. agr., and the following topics were covered: labeling of organic products, what can be certified, how to get certified, motives for organic production, problems with conventional production, redirection to organic farming, basic principles of organic plant production and organic beekeeping.

The theoretical part was held at the Faculty of Agro-Mediterranean Mostar, while the practical part included a tour and analysis of the experimental farm Something More in Humilišani from the aspect of directing a series of activities towards creating an organic farm for the future.

The citizens’ association thanks all the participants for their activities and enthusiasm, the lecturer for the great lobbying of young agronomists to turn to organic production as much as possible, and the partners from the Faculty of Agro-Mediterranean Mostar who provided us with space for education.

The training is part of the activities on the project Support to Agricultural Development in Herzegovina, implemented by UG Nešto Više, and supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
