In the period from 24.04. to 26.04.2015. year, the Association of Citizens “Something More” in its premises in Mostar realized a three-day workshop “Growing and planting of economically viable aromatic-medicinal plants” led by Prof. Dr. Nezir Tanović.
The training was realized within the GIZ project “Support to Adult Education” with the aim of strengthening the capacity of training providers for adults.
During the training, the following topics were covered: general concepts of medicinal plants, systematic affiliation of medicinal plants, morphological features, medicinal plants in nature-wild, medicinal plant substances, preparation and methods of application of medicinal plants, calendar of medicinal plants collection, description of individual wild medicinal plants species according to the interests of the trainees, cultivation of medicinal plants – general principles, agroecological conditions and agrotechnical measures of cultivation, processing of medicinal plants, storage and packaging of medicinal plants, certification: (HACCP, GLOBALGAP) and branding, marketing in the field of medicinal plants and health aspects of medicinal plants .
On the second day of the training we visited the plant of ROING d.o.o. at the location of Muminovača, municipality of Čapljina, where the co-owner of the company, Mr. Nikola Rozić, introduced us to the production program, processes of cultivation, drying and
distillation of medicinal plants used in their work and the company Jaffa-Komerc in Blagaj, Mostar, where we were welcomed by Mr. Nedim Badžak and informed us about current trends in production and the market of fruits and vegetables. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our kind hosts and wish them much success in their future business. Participants also had the opportunity to visit the demonstration property of the Association.
At the end of the training, a written test was organized, which all eighteen participants successfully passed and were awarded certificates of successful completion of the training.
