In Sarajevo, on February 20,2012. within the project Inclusion against Discrimination of Persons with Disabilities, a training entitled “Methodology of working with persons with disabilities-how to behave! was held for instructors of the Center for Business Education and staff of the Association of Citizens “Nešto Više” who will directly educate people with disabilities 6 months of the project.
The training was led by Belma Karkelja Omerović, B.Sc.soc. worker and director of the first social enterprise in BiH, USPON d.o.o.
(www.uspon.ba) which deals with mediation in the employment of persons with disabilities:
-introduce participants to acceptable language terminology related to persons with disabilities
-clarify what discrimination on the grounds of disability means,
-consider the most common causes of discrimination against persons with disabilities (ignorance, upbringing and conformism),
-list forms of discrimination (through speech, behavior and direct threat),
-discuss non-discriminatory language and behavior towards people with disabilities as well as
-consider etiquette of behavior towards people with disabilities with illustrations, examples from practice.
The participants were presented and distributed the Handbook”How to communicate with people with disabilities” by Belma Karkelja Omerović, which was developed for the needs of this project in order to better prepare lecturers who will work with people with disabilities and have good communication with project beneficiaries, people with disabilities. The training was attended by 13 people (9 from the Association of Citizens’ Nešto Više and 4from the Center for Business Education), and was held in the premises of the Center for Business Education. The project Inclusion against Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities is supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
