During the second half of January 2012, contacts were established with several non-governmental organizations and institutions in BiH in order to select quality internship opportunities for American students from the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John’s University (CSBSJU). For the summer internship of students from this partner institution, nine candidates have been selected for 2012, three of whom will be accommodated in Mostar, Sarajevo and Banja Luka: Hello, you are a Youth Center, a meeting was held with coordinator Tanja Boromisa, and a Youth Communication Center, a meeting was held with Executive Director Sasa Marković and project coordinator Sanja Srdic. Students who will be interns in these organizations are Takai Bethel (Hello to You) and Paidamoyo Chikate (OKC).
In the coming period, the staff of UGNV will work with representatives of these organizations on the development of job descriptions for interns, in order to plan eight working weeks of internships (May 21-July 13 2012). A possible cooperation has also been established with the International Press Center Banja Luka, with Mr. Miloš Šolaj, with whom an internship was arranged for another American student, but who unfortunately suddenly canceled his arrival. CSBSJU is in the process of selecting a new candidate- an intern.
NV staff has established quality contacts with organizations in Sarajevo with the same goal. At the beginning of next week, meetings will be organized with representatives of organizations in this city, in order to confirm the places of internships, and work on the next steps of preparing a job description for interns. The NV staff would like to once again thank everyone who expressed their willingness to cooperate on the Summer Internship project for American students in BiH. 2012 will be the fifth year of this project.
