-PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENTS SIGNED WITH MUNICIPALITIES OF BERKOVIĆI AND LJUBINJE

On 17.01.2011. The Association of Citizens “Nešto Više” has signed partnership agreements with the municipalities of Berkovići and Ljubinje, which define cooperation on two projects that will be implemented during 2012: “Improvement of water supply in the municipality of Berkovici” and “Covering the drainage channel of rainwater in the city zone of Ljubinje”. The project “Improvement of water supply in the municipality of Berkovići” aims to improve living conditions for 320 households in the municipality of Berkovići. This is to be achieved through the training and protection of the Trebesinj spring. With the realization of this project, the inhabitants of the municipality of Berkovići will get a safe source of drinking water, the maintenance of which will be taken over by the Public Utility Company “Vodovod” from Berkovići.

The main goal of the project “Covering the drainage channel of rainwater in the city zone of Ljubinje” is to improve the ecological conditions in the municipality of Ljubinje by covering Bukovo potok, a drainage channel that served as an illegal garbage dump, 64m long.

The covered space will be turned into a playground for children.

Both projects are supported by MDG-F Environmnetal Protection and Climate Change “Standardization of Environmental Management: Connecting Local and State Initiatives in BiH” and the municipalities of Berkovići and Ljubinje. MDG-F Environmental Protection and Climate Change Program: “Standardization of Environmental Management: Connecting Local and State Activities in BiH” is a three-year program jointly implemented by five UN agencies: UNDP, UNV, UNEP, FAO and UNESCO, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and economic relations of BiH, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and economic relations of BiH, the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH, the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and Ecology of RS, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of RS, the Ministry of Environment and Toursim of FBiH, the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry of BiH, municipalities and civil society organizations. The program is funded by the Spanish Millennium Development Goals Fund (MDG-F).
