-Visit to CSBSJU

In the period from 18 to 21.04.2011. part of the staff Nešto Više (NV) Aleksandar Bundalo, Danijel Lozančić and Sanja Đermanović, and our mentor from the Whalen Foundation Carol Yamasaki, visited the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University (CSBSJU), Minnesota, USA. The general goal of the visit was to strengthen and improve the partnership between “Nešto Više” and the BiH CSB and SJU graduate departments with CSBSJU institutuions. We were received by the President of SJU, Fr. Robert Koopmann OSB, and the Dean of CSBSJU Ms. Rita Knuesel, who expressed support for existing and new initiatives and joint potential projects. Three basic components of the partnership were discussed_ the 2011 summer intership for American students in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the development of a new short international program for CSBSJU students in BiH, and the consideration of a semester international program for CSBSJU students in BiH.

Danijel_and_Julie_2011_Internship program for CSBSJU students in BiH: A series of meetings were held with Ms. Julie Christle, internship program coordinator to discuss the details of the 2011 program.

In addition, the future of the program was discussed, especially ways to promote summer internships in BiH to CSBSJU students. Ms.Christle and MR. Joe Rogers, Director of the CSBSJU Center for Global Education, organized a meeting with six CSBSJU interns who applied for the 2011 summer program. Students prepared excellent presentations about Bosnia and Herzegovina, which included culture, customs, society, political scene and conflict analysis in the early 1990. Students start interships on May 30,2011, which will last for two months: three students will be accommodated in Mostar, two in Sarajevo, and one in Banja Luka, according to their own wishes. During the meeting, we answered internal questions, exchanged ideas, and the program was supported by Madeline Dragich, who was a participant in the program in 2009. In the past three years, nine CSBSJU students have sccessfully implemented an internship program in BiH.
