A group of 10 advanced beekeepers from Jablanica and Posušje participated in a study visit to Trebinje on May 27 and 28, 2015.
The topic of the study visit was the diversification of beekeeping activities, and the host was mr.sci. Radivoje Maksimović, representative of the Association of Beekeepers of the Republic of Srpska.
Beekeepers from Jablanica and Posušje visited the apiary of Mr. Anđelić Vlade in Gornji Vrbno, where the methodology of breeding queens, problems, obstacles and ways of overcoming them were practically presented.
Mr. Savo Ljubibratić presented his beekeeping methods at his own apiary in Duže, with an emphasis on bee migration in order to maximize bee grazing in certain areas.
A meeting was held with the representatives of the Žalfija Beekeeping Cooperative and their plants for the production of beeswax and hourly bases were visited, and the possibilities of cooperation were discussed.
In the end, during the visit of the host apiary, Radivoje Maksimović, various methods and technologies of pollen collection, queen breeding, two-queen beekeeping, detection and prevention of infectious diseases in bees were practically presented.
Once again, we thank the kind hosts for their hospitality and willingness to share their knowledge with interested beekeepers.
The study visit included participants in two projects implemented by the Association, Improving the skills of young people, women and the unemployed in the agricultural sector of Posušje municipality funded by dvv international – Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Posušje Municipality and the project Support to Agricultural Development in Herzegovina implemented by Citizens’ Association. and supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
