Two-day training for persons with disabilities on the topic of “Monitoring and reporting for the purposes of writing alternative reports” was held in Teslić, 26 and 27.06.2019. Education is an open discussion about the concept of disability from discrimination with which people with disabilities every day meet, to the respect of human rights of persons with disabilities. They discussed the reports who come from government institutions and non-governmental organizations, but also about alternative reports and EU monitoring.
On the second day of training, the focus is placed on the concept of monitoring human rights; what is his significance and what steps to take in the planning process. It was also discussed about the monitoring system and service, individual experiences, and the very important monitoring of social attitudes. Participants are educated on how the results of monitoring should be included in the reporting on the situation of human rights of persons with disabilities.
“Equally Different” is the project recognized and supported by the EU, in which the BH civil society organisations empower so the organizations shall be included in the process of European integration, just with a focus on increasing social inclusiveness and non-discrimination of persons with disabilities.
After the call for applications participants, who in motivation letters expressed the desire for this education in how they would more actively be involved in the processes of monitoring and reporting on the state of human rights for persons with disabilities in BiH, 12 of them have been selected, from different parts of the country. Education, in the framework of the project “Community of different, but equal citizens”, is spearheaded by the master of psychology Ira Adilagić, an activist in the sphere of human rights for persons with disabilities.
The project supports the European Union, and implemented by Organizations UDAS in partnership with Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly (hCa) Banja Luka and UG “Nešto Više” Sarajevo.
