-Association in “Spe” visiting the farm 26/04/2016

04/21/2016 Thursday, a wonderful day! Our new friends from the Association for the Protection and Improvement of Mental Health “In Spe” finally came to visit us on the farm. And they brought us joy: we visited all the facilities on the farm together, talked about growing food, flowers, vegetables, fruits, earthworms, greenhouses, bees, hydroponic growing vegetables… We tried the first cherries, and Ivan had the opportunity to eat the first kavada (as he says) on the farm this season.
Great group, they had a lot of questions, which we love the most – when people show interest in participating, suggesting, sharing their experiences.
We agreed on a volunteer engagement for the future, because several of our dear guests expressed their desire to come again and work with us on various tasks.
Thanks guys, you just made our day! And thank you for the wonderful gifts (picture, candlestick and official thank you ♥) – we will always keep them as a souvenir of the first meeting (. Come to us again, as soon as you can!
The rest of the day we worked on several tasks: cleaning immortelles, connecting seedlings in greenhouse # 1 (all cucumbers and part of tomatoes are connected), watering crops in greenhouse # 2, and flowers, and planted crops in old orchards and fig trees, planting cabbages ( broccoli and kohlrabi), arranging seedlings in pallets and tubs – preparations for transplanting outside, arranging delivery of seedlings for the middle of next week by when we need to prepare organic gardens for planting, continuing work on installations in the house (our colleagues from Sarajevo do a great job), positioning – selection of terrain for the soon installation of a septic tank for black water, and installations for gray water, arranging an official visit of staff from the water supply system to introduce drinking water to the property, watering part of the path for people with disabilities concreted yesterday, arranging tomatoes in greenhouse # 2 earth in pots), etc.
Our former practitioner Ibrahim also visited us for a short time, and brought us mushrooms for smokers for bees – thank you very much;).
Tired but satisfied, we left the farm in the evening and went on a well-deserved vacation. Early tomorrow morning, continued 🙂
Tomorrow night at 6 pm we finally started with a 72-hour permaculture course, which we are really looking forward to! For the next ten days, we will learn new, fantastic skills that we will apply on our farm.
Activities are organized within the Slightly More project “Support to Agricultural Development in Herzegovina”, supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
