Within the project “Improvement of water supply in the municipality of Berkovići”, training and protection of the Trebesin spring (catchment and reservoir) was performed, which provided a safe and protected source of drinking water and ensured the quality of water supply for 320 households in the Berkovići area. Technical acceptance of works was performed on Friday, May 11, 2012, in the presence of the mayor of Berkovići, representatives of the United Nations Development Program and the Association of Citizens “Nešto Više”. The contractor was the construction company “Herzegovinainvest” d.o.o. from Berković. The maintenance of the spring will be taken over by the Public Utility Company “Vodovod” from Berković. The project, implemented by the Association of Citizens “Nešto Više”, is implemented within the MDG-F program Environmental Protection and Climate Change: “Standardization of environmental management: connecting local and state activities in BiH”- a three-year program jointly implemented by five UN agencies: UNDP, UNV, UNEP, FAO and UNESCO, in partnership with the MInistry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH, the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and Ecology of RS, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of RS, the Ministry of Environment and Tourism of FBiH, FBiH Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry municipalities, and civil society organizations. Funding was provided by the Spanish Fund for the Achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG-F), the municipality of Berkovići and a part of the Association of Citizens “Nešto Više”. The value of the project is around 20,000 KM.
