With the realization of the project “Covering the drainage channel of rainwater in the city zone of Ljubinje”, the improvement of ecological conditions in the municipality of Ljubinje was achieved by covering Bukovo potok, a drainage channel that served as an illegal garbage dump, in the length of 64 m. The covered space will later be turned into a playground for children. Technical acceptance of works was performed on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 in the presence of representatives of the Municipality of Ljubinje, representatives of the United Nations Development Program and the Association of Citizens “Nešto Više”. The contractor was the construction company “NEIMARSTVO-plus” d.o.o. from Ljubinje. The maintenance of the canal will be taken over by the municipality of Ljubinje. The project, implemented by the Association of Citizens “Nešto Više”; is implemented within the MDG-F program Environmental Protection and Climate Change:
“Standardization of environmental management: connecting local and state activities in BiH”- A three-year program jointly implemented by five UN agencies: UNDP, UV, UNEP, FAO and UNESCO, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and Ecology of RS, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of RS, the Ministry of Environment and Tourism of FBiH, FBiH Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry municipalities and civil society organizations. Funding is provided by the Spanish Millennium Development Goals Fund (MDG-F) and the municipality of Ljubinje. The value of the project is around 72.000 KM.
