On March 22, 2012, a working meeting entitled “Water and Food” was held in Mostar on the occasion of March 22, World Water Day. The celebration of this holiday was determined by the adoption of the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly in December 1992. The fact that only one percent of all water on Earth is drinkable, while as much as 97 percent are seas and two percent glaciers, is enough reason for us to realize the necessary care for water, without nothing would exists or would be extinguished.
In many parts of the world, the amounts of drinking water are measurement rather of poverty than of wealth. Drinking water in many parts of the world is not only not enough but its shortages is almost frightening. Lack of drinking water is especially seen in lots of undeveloped countries where there is no healthy water for drinking or food production.
The working staff under the guidance of Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Srpska was organized by the Agency for the Adriatic Sea Basin Mostar.
Director of the Adriatic Sea Agency Damir Mrdjen said that traditionally water agencies in BiH together with line ministries organize working meetings to mark World Water Day: Sufficient water of adequate quality for the needs of the population”.
Velibor Sudar from the Citizen’s Association “Nešto Više” presented at the meeting the just completed project “Capacity Building of Agricultural Business in BiH in Drought Adaptation”, which was implemented with USAID funds in partnership with the Center for Development and Support (CPR) from Tuzla.
