Democracy, human rights, and the rule of law are the foundations of this European project. In recent years, our societies have faced various challenges (the COVID-19 pandemic, armed conflicts, and economic crises). These processes have led to new Eurosceptic tensions, alienation, and the spread of misinformation, threatening our democracies. Today, young people are exposed to many threats that did not exist a few years ago. They need support, encouragement, and the right tools to fully participate in the democratic life of their communities through their voices and opinions on the future of Europe.
The Shine Project: Shaping the Future of Europe aims to provide young people and youth organizations in partner countries with tools, skills, and attitudes that ensure meaningful youth participation in democratic processes and dialogue with decision-makers, promote youth civic engagement, and provide spaces for expressing their opinions to local communities, national authorities, and European society.
The general objective of this project is to build the capacities of youth organizations to use innovative tools and practices that encourage youth engagement in public life. The consortium will achieve the project goals by creating new open resources and NFIL tools. Partners from Bulgaria, Germany, Romania, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro will exchange information and best practices from their countries and jointly develop educational resources – a series of podcasts, a training manual for youth workers, and a board game on democracy and civic participation for youth. Partners will also initiate and implement capacity-building activities, local and international trainings, awareness-raising campaigns, multiplier events, and a final youth conference.
