In the period 21-22 October 2014, trainings were held on the topic “Basics of beekeeping” for users from the municipalities of Han Pijesak and Rogatica. The trainings were held within the project “Improvement of household income through the improvement of the beekeeping sector in the area” of the municipalities of Han Pijeska and Rogatica.
A total of 41 project beneficiaries participated, and the trainings were intended for unemployed youth and women. The training was held by Slaviša Knežević, B.Sc. in Agriculture and Secretary of the Association of Beekeepers “Glasinac” Sokolac.
The basics in the field of beekeeping were covered at the training: development of beekeeping, composition of the bee colony, bee nest and developmental stages of bees, beekeeping tools and equipment, selection of hives and the issue of standards, and seasonal work on the apiary.
In the following period, two more specialized trainings will be held for the same users on the topics “Preparation of bees for winter and protection against diseases” and “Honey products, distribution channels and legal regulations”.
The project is implemented by the Association of Citizens “Something More” in cooperation with the Association LAG Devetak – Han Pijesak and Rogatica and is supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
