On March 30 and 31, 2014, the Citizens’ Association “Nešto Više” in partnership with the Association of Citizens “Modus” from Teslić organized two volunteer actions of arranging sports fields and children’s playgrounds. The schoolyards in the primary schools Vitkovci and Đulići in the Municipality of Teslić were a place where a large number of volunteers from the local communities to which the schools belong gathered. The action was attended by a large number of current and former students of these schools who worked together to fence the school yard, paint the fence, dig the foundation for the protective fence behind the goal, set up benches, build an outdoor gym and many other jobs to improve the school yard and places for socializing and recreation. It was originally planned to organize only one action within one school. Due to the great involvement of the community, donations in materials and the engagement of locals who with their tools and knowledge expressed a desire to participate, it was decided to divide the funds intended for one into two actions. In this way, we achieved a much greater effect, but also showed that by cooperating with civil society organizations with representatives of local communities and local authorities, much more can be done if they act together. These actions aim to improve the quality of life as well as strengthen activism among young people. The project is supported under the LOD III project funded by the European Union from the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA), and implemented by UNDP.
