-Volunteer action “Nešto Više” in the Sunce Association, Mostar

This year’s first volunteer action of the Association of Citizens “Nešto Više” (BiH) was held on March 23. to 27.03.2012. in the Association of Parents and Friends of Children and Persons with Special Needs Sunce, in Mostar. Volunteers Nešto Više from Banja Luka, Sarajevo and Mostar, together with volunteers, staff and users of the Sunce, have been arranging the premises and garden of the Sunce Association for these five days.

The following works were performed: replacement of sand in the sandstone, landscaping and planting new trees and seedlings, landscaping, protection of wooden beams of the center, painting the concrete structure of the fence, arranging and painting the walls of the center, making and installing specialized shelves for materials and exhibition shelves for works users, general cleaning and decoration the walls in the areas where the users reside. A new sign of the Sunce is is being made, which signals the location of the Association from the street. Twelve volunteers Nešto Više who worked a total of 230 volunteer hours are: Miroslav Bundalo from Banja Luka, Adisa Kablar, Lejla Ribić and Armin Poljo from Sarajevo, and Željka Rubinić, Maja Vican, Edin Balalić, Marko Jakovljević, Ivana Pandža, Vanja Sudar, Velibor Sudar and Sanja Đermanović from Mostar.

Of the many volunteers from Sunce who helped during the action, the most effort was invested by Mrs. Sabina Šuta, Murisa Huseinspahić and Šana Hamzai and the user Sasa Šehić, who was named the best volunteer of the action. Special thanks also go to the staff and the director of Sunca, Mrs. Erni Kotlo, who trusted the volunteers of Nešto Više and opened the doors of the Center.

It is important to note that the support for the action came from many sides from peoople who know and respect the work, and the missions of the Association Sunce and “Nešto Više”, of which we emphasize volunteer engagements: HP Investing, whose staff arranged access to the Sunce; Alen Bjelavac who serviced the air conditioner; Maja Rubinić who will make the board of the Sunce; Milka Boječko who donated 77 guard houses; and Maja Vukotić Bajramović who donated an apple tree.

The Association of Citizens “Nešto Više” (BIH) through its Peace Trails Schoolarship Program regularly organizes volunteer actions throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to help local communities, organizations and individuals. In the last eight years, Nešto Više volunteers have carried out 62 volunteer actions in 44 local communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and three actions to help people in the New Orleans region in the USA, after the tragedy that befell the area in 2005.
