“The conference “Inclusive education in BiH with a focus on kindergartens and preschool level” was held at the Hollywood Hotel in Sarajevo ( February 27, 2012). Jelena Backović attended the conference in front of the Association of Citizens “Nešto Više”. On that occasion, the results of the project were presented:
BISER- Support to inclusive education of children with disabilities in kindergartens and preschools in both BH entities. The results were presented by the representatives of the Association HAJDE, Leptir and Kutak.
During the project, various workshops were held, both for parents and for educatiors/ teachers in kindergartens and preschools, where experiences were shared and certain recommendations were given that should faciliate the inclusion of the child in regular kindergartens and preschool classes.
During these workshops, it was noticed that in some local communities there is a lack of staff (speech therapist, psychologist, pediatrician, physiotherapist, etc,) who should observe children at the beginning and then work with them to improve their overall condition. It was concluded that it is necessary to establish more service centers, which would provide support to both parents and children. It is also proposed to form an inclusive class, at least in one school, which should consist of about 20 children, at least four of whom would be with disabilities. The project and the conference are supported by: HILFSWERK AUSTRIA INTERNATIONAL (HWA) and ERSTE STIFTUNG Foundation from Austria.
